A Summer of Hospitality

As the usual rhythms slow down at SJB for the summer, we encourage everyone to participate in a Summer of Hospitality.
To some it might feel like there are barriers to sharing time with others - what are some of the excuses you could come up with? Perhaps... too tired, too busy, my children are unpredictable, I can’t cook, the house is a mess... if we waited for all of these things to be sorted we would never spend time with each other.
A Summer of Hospitality doesn’t have to be perfect or complicated - discipleship happens in community and in everyday life. So invite people over into the chaos, tiredness, or disorganisation:
Cook whatever you usually would, but make extra.
Get a takeaway together.
Have a BBQ where everyone can bring something.
Have a shared picnic.
Skip the food all together and have a drink in the garden.
You could even invited people into your hobbies - whether it s crafty, physical, or otherwise.
Just do a ‘normal’ day with someone invited in to share life with you.
In simply sharing life and/or food together, you will be surprised at how Jesus uses the conversations and time you spend with others.
