We are delighted to share that Jon Tearne, who has been Team Vicar at St Peter’s Oadby, is returning to ministry within St John’s. Jon was a curate at St John’s and was sent out to St Peter’s, with whom we still have a strong partnership.
Jon has had to take time off for several months due to health reasons. During this time, we have sought to care for Jon, support St Peter’s, and continue to partner well with the diocese. After much careful and prayerful consideration, all involved (including Jon) have discerned that the wisest way forward is for Jon to return to ministry at St. John’s, rather than St Peter’s.
We believe St. John’s is the best place for Jon to have a phased re-engagement with ministry and leadership, and Jon will begin this process on Tuesday 12 November. Jon is a fantastically gifted leader and minister, and we are looking forward to supporting him in his calling and giftings.
Meanwhile, we have affirmed our commitment to the partnership with St Peter’s. We are committed to the renewal and revitalisation of St Peter’s, which we are convinced God is calling us to. We see St Peter’s as a core part of our emerging church planting network.
Since September, Sami has supported St Peter’s around 1.5 days per week. In the coming weeks we will work through within St John’s and St Peter’s how the ministry at St. Peter’s might be further resourced through our partnership.
Please continue to pray for Jon and Beth as they settle back into life at St John’s, and for St Peter’s as they navigate a change of season. We look forward to welcoming Jon back imminently.
